Newton GeiszlerxReader

You gasped as the concrete above you facility was cracked open, revealing a Jaeger of all things. Relieved, you collapsed on the ground. Someone would see you, dirty labcoat over your skinny jeans and sweater. Your crew and students had all been evacuated the day of the first Kaiju attack on your lab. You, however, could not leave your research. You had worked too hard for it, you would die with it or leave with it- it would not be left behind.

A rescue team came bursting from ground level into your underground lab and found your body strewn on the floor. A medic came to you first, then, when the coast was cleared by soldiers, two scientists came in.

One, with spiky brown hair and excited green eyes, rushed in like a hyper puppy, while the other, with his stern expression and judgemental brown eyes hobbled in on a dark wood cane.

“Oh my God!” the first one shouted, “Dude, are you seeing this?”

The other rolled his eyes. “Of course I am, you fool, I’m standing right next to you.”

“Look, Hermann, I get it if you’re not feeling the same level of excitement as I am, but try to be a bit more enthusiastic! I mean, seriously! Look at some of this stuff,” he trailed off, peering closely at some of your sketches and notes on Kaiju anatomy from what you had merely observed on your own, “It’s unreal.”

“It’s perfectly real,” Hermann muttered as he hobbled forth, “And it’s all been done before.”

The tattooed man turned to face his colleague, “By scientists with access to corpses. This was all done either from memory, or by observation.” He didn’t know which thought was more terrifying.

His ogling, however, was interrupted by the medic calling for assistance.

“We have a survivor!”

Newton breathed in astonishment. “No way.”

She was covered in ink, but not tattoo ink like he was. No, it was drawing and scribbled notes in ball point pen ink that smeared slightly in certain places. Once her body had been examined and she had been stripped of her filthy clothes that she had worn for who knew how many days she was hooked up to countless machines.

An IV was taped to one arm. Newton Geiszler was at the other, eagerly awaiting her awakening to ask her about the notes written across her skin. He had told the medical who-haas to leave it, knowing it was probably something important.

He and Hermann had collected everything from her lab, spreading the drawings and charts around in their shared lab. Hermann was examining them all while Newton just couldn’t seem to calm down.

Until you woke up.

Blinking open your (e/c) eyes, you groaned quietly. Your gaze was immediately met by the green eyes of some strange man with a wide grin.

“How’d you do it?”

“Do what?” you asked, pushing away from him as much as you could.

He only got closer, green eyes seeming to be searching for the answer. “The drawings.”

You smiled ruefully. “I could get pretty close to them without leaving the door to my shelter.”

His eyes widened. “You got that much detail from observation?”

“Up close and personal with the Kaiju.”

“So what’s all this on your body?” he asked you, lifting your arm into your own line of sight. “You seemed to have written all of your observations and theories on paper. What’s with the pens?”

Your jaw clenched, and you looked at the man with steel in your eyes.

“Have you ever been that close to a Kaiju?”

The man shook his head, chunky glasses slipping a bit from his largish nose. “But I wish I could.”

Gaze stern, your expression caused the scruffy man in front of you to sober up a bit. “No, you don’t.”

Lifting your shirt and rolling onto your side, you showed the monstrous shadows climbing across your midriff. “You get nightmares. Ones that don’t go away. And you pray to God they’ll go away before you see your next Kaiju.”

Suddenly, the man seemed somewhat serious. “Well now you won’t have to draw these things. We have Jaegers to fight the Kaijus. We just pick up the remains.”

It was oddly relieving to hear the man speak to you in such a way. Nodding with a blank expression, you smiled bitterly to the scientist. “Then I guess I should shower.”

He blushed oddly bright and you had to hold back a laugh as he stuttered to you that he’d get a nurse to untether you.

This felt right. A nice new start, you hoped.

And at least one interesting, attractive person.

I love him. This was necessary. I'm still waiting for one response regarding the raffle, but if I don't get one by the end of tonight, I'll pick a new winner in the morning.
