Frostbitten: Part 11
Jack FrostxReader

You had stopped crying, there was no point to anymore. Soon Jack would come for you, you knew that he would, despite what The Boogeyman might say. He had been a relatively kind captor, bringing you good food and providing whatever else you needed. His only condition was that you wouldn’t disturb him or lash out when he brought you your meals.

Playing with the food on your plate with your fork, you let out a quiet sigh. You hadn’t been feeling the greatest as of late. Something was wrong with your health and you knew why Pitch wasn’t particularly interested in you.

Despite what you told yourself and the man clad in shadows, you doubted that your prince would come to save you. And, in turn, you were dying of a broken heart. A stupid thing, really, and you couldn’t help but laugh about it to yourself. It just wasn’t something that happened in real life. But then, Jack Frost and The Boogeyman weren’t generally believed in, either.

Time was running out for you, you knew that much, and with every passing day you felt your body turn against you more and more. First, you wouldn’t eat, then you couldn’t sleep. By now, you could hardly keep your eyes open, let alone speak or fight.

Your fingers, however, kept up strength. You yearned to pick up a pencil, to sweep ink across a blank canvas. Your mind continued to keep up with the activity of painting and sketching within it’s confines. For the first couple of days you had scratched designs into your prison with whatever you could. Now you ran your fingers over the scratches; patterns of snowflakes and flowers, people singing and children laughing, long spiraling nothings that ended nowhere.

But, one day, just as your clock was about to run out, you had a visitor.

It was Pitch, and for some reason he was frantic. You watched in silence, (e/c) eyes wide as he opened the gate of your cage and pulled you out. He said nothing and you asked nothing, knowing that it would only encourage him to keep you in the dark. He growled, jerking you towards the mouth of the massive cave just before skidding to a stop and immediately regaining his cool demeanor.

“Jack,” he purred as if he were welcoming and old friend, “so nice of you to join us.”

Mouth forming a shocked little ‘o’ shape, you eyes darted to where The Boogeyman was looking. You could hardly believe the strong figure that stood just a couple of feet ahead of you. If you wanted, you could run over and grab him. Feeling the strength of hope returning to your body, you tried to tug against Pitch’s hold, but his sharp fingers just dug deeper into your skin. “Jack!” you called out, voice a mixture of relief and desperation.

Pitch threw you behind him, once more forming a small cage around you. “How sweet,” he taunted, “She knew you would come back, you know, always told me that Jack would save her. But I could see her breaking. If you were just one day later,” he trailed off, a satisfied smirk on his ghastly face. “Well you certainly wouldn’t have been able to save her.”

“It’s not true!” you screamed, throwing yourself against the bars, “I always believed in you, Jack Frost!”

The Boogeyman tsked from his spot in front of you. “Don’t you know that lies make you ugly?” he sneered, jerking his arm towards you and, in turn, making you fall against the back of the small cage.

Jack’s face only showed his anger as he held his staff defensively. “If you’ve hurt her, I’ll-”

“You’ll what?” Pitch said with a haunting grin. “Will you kill me?” he teased, grin growing.

A small smirk grew on Jack’s pale face. “No,” he told the man clad in black, “I’m not going to do anything to you.”

“But we will!” The voice was distinctly feminine and only a moment after a blueish-green blur raced past Jack, a mob of smaller, yet similar, colored dashes of brightness attacked Pitch, distracting him from everything else as a large man clad in red and black fur, a round-ish man who seemed to be made of gold, and who you recognized as the Easter bunny entered the cave. Your (e/c) eyes widened in shock, but your attention was quickly pulled to Jack, who was now kneeling next to your little cage.

After struggling for a moment to try and break through, he turned back to his companions. “Sandy!” he shouted, addressing one of them, “Any help?”

The short golden man nodded, his tiny feet scuttling across the floor as what looked to be hummingbirds and what appeared to be their queen of sorts continued to distract Pitch. Cracking the knuckles in his fingers, “Sandy” seemed to throw a handful of golden sand on the bars, forming a large hole in the bars. The sand that had previously contained you now continued to eat away at the rest of the black sand and you stumbled out of the mess and into Jack’s arms.

Clinging tightly to the frigid boy, you felt tears well up in your (e/c) eyes. “I missed you so much,” you whimpered quietly, nuzzling your face into his blue hoodie.

You heard a short puff of air and looked up to see the mystical figure smirking down at you. “Hey,” he said, “I told you I’d be back soon.”

“I know,” you laughed in relief, “I believed you.”

The two of you just staying like that, faces close and gazes stuck only on each other.

That is, until the Easter Bunny interrupted you.

“Oi, lovebirds,” he warned, “We may want to get out of here fast.”

Snapping out of your little stupor with a light blush, you looked over at the giant grey bunny and nodded. “Right,” you said, pulling on Jack’s hand as you ran back to the entrance of the cave, “Let’s go!”

“Tooth!” the large man shouted in a Russian accent, “We’ve got her; come back!”

The Queen of the Hummingbirds, as you titled her, paused in her actions before nodding at the Russian. She whistled and quickly flew away, all of her little companions following after her. You heard Pitch roar angrily as you reached what looked like Santa’s sleigh, but he didn’t chase you.

“Get in,” Jack whispered from behind you, practically shoving you into the contraption. He and Bunny jumped in after you and Sandy wiggled in just behind them. Your new friend who you could only assume was Santa Claus took the reigns in front. “Tooth”, however, stuck with her own means of transportation.

There was a snap of the reigns and you were jerked into motion, the reindeers’ hoofbeats solid and heavy on the rocky ground just before they leapt up, taking the sleigh with them into the sky. You clung to the seat under you, squeezing your eyes closed instead of watching your ascent. You could hear Jack chuckling from your right, though when you peeking your eyes open ever so slightly you saw Bunny in a similar state to yours.

A lean arm wrapped over your shoulders, pulling you close to the long torso that it was connected to. “I’m so happy to see you,” Jack muttered, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.

Pressing yourself closer to him, you felt your body relax, as well as your flying flatten out. “Me too,” you mumbled before drifting off into a much needed sleep.
