Frostbitten: Part 10
Jack FrostxReader

“Look, guys,” Jack said, clearly frustrated by his current situation, “I just know that she’s in danger. We need to check up on her.”

The rest of the Guardians stood watching as their most recent partner paced across the golden floors of Santa’s factory. “Jack,” North said, taking the smallest step forward and into the path of said teen. “I know you feel the need to protect your friend, but I am sure that-”

Jack glared up at the Russian man with steely blue eyes. “I promised her that I would be back. I have to keep her safe.”

“Oi! Slush for brains!” Now Jack turned his glare to the giant rabbit trying to get his attention. His voice was low as he turned everyone’s attention to the platform closest to the giant globe. “You may want to see this.”

The room was silent as everyone turned to face the globe where a single light was flashing brightly. Jack drifted up to where it was on the map, just as black sand snaked over it. “(F/n),” he whispered, blue eyes wide. With tears beginning to fog up the crystal color, Jack turned back to see his companions. “I have to get back to her,” he choked out, the light behind him disappearing completely off the map.

North nodded solemnly. “You are right,” he said grimly to the newest Guardian in his accented English. “Bunny, take him back.”

Tapping one large foot to the ground, he carefully watched Jack sink to the floor. “Whatever you say, mate.”

Tooth and Sandy remained just as silent as they had before  as the boy with a grim expression disappeared down the newly appeared rabbit hole.

“He’s going to get hurt, isn’t he,” Tooth asked, her voice quiet and wavering. Sandman merely closed his eyes, held tilted down to the floor that used to seem so bright.

Placing a giant hand on her delicate shoulder, North counseled her. “He will be alright, Tooth. He is Jack Frost!” he cheered, a grin forced on his face.

Sounding like a worried mother, Tooth stared at the ground at Bunny’s feet. “I hope so,” she murmured.

Meanwhile, Jack had arrived once more at your house. “(F/n)!” he called out, his voice desperate, “Oh please just be sleeping,” he prayed quietly to no one in particular as he tripped around halls and to your room. The lock was still broken, he could see it sitting on her desk after he swung the door open. There was a rumpled figure in the bedsheets and he cheered for a moment, throwing back the covers.

His joy was trampled however, by the sound of sand shifting and the darkness that covered the bed. Lying amongst the sand there was an hourglass filled with a similarly pitch black essence. It had been resting on it’s side, but upon it’s uncovering it was pushed up to an upright position.

“Tick tock,” he heard the familiar voice of the Boogeyman tease as his laughter filled the air. Jack’s head swiveled around desperately before his eyes settled once more on the hourglass. In the sand, a girlish figure sat crumpled.

Falling beside her bed, Jack sat with his head in his hands. “(F/n),” he whimpered once more. When he looked up once more at the hourglass, there was anger in his icy blue eyes and frost crept up in every corner of the room.

Standing up, he snatched the trinket in his hand. “I won’t break my promise.”
