First Flight
FangxReader

You wandered aimlessly though the forgotten streets of the city, thinking only of where you had left and how you needed to find somewhere to stay. Your boyfriend had taken over the apartment, and, for some reason, you just couldn't go to one of your friend's houses. There was a certain shadow of uncertainty that kept you from going to anyone's houses, though you didn't know what it was or what caused it.

Regardless, you kept walking down the streets, passed closed storefronts and darkened alleys. While walking past one of the ominous alleyways, you saw a movement from the corner of your eye.

Not one to take chances, you found yourself walking a bit faster and, much to your relief, you heard no footsteps behind you.

Chancing a look back, you saw only empty streets under the flickering glow of streetlights. Though, in front of you was another story.

You crashed into something solid, stumbling back a bit until you regained your senses. Standing in front of you with a bemused light playing in his black eyes, was a dark-skinned man. His clothing was dark and helped him to blend into the night that matched his shaggy hair.

Nervously, you stepped back and watched the man step with you.

"H-hello," you stuttered, trying to figure out what his intentions were.

An easy grin slid across his angled face, "Hey."

Though he seemed nice enough, you didn't let your guard down just yet. Not knowing how to continue down the street, you stayed where you were. So did he.

Then, he stepped closer. "Nice night we're having."

You nodded, "Mhm."

Another step. "What're you up to?"

Your (e/c) eyes narrowed. "Just walking."

The grin grew on his tanned face, "You don't recognize me, do you?"

"Should I?"

Large, pitch-black wings unfurled from behind his back, blending into the darkness surrounding him. Against the starlight, they glowed with a purple light. After a moment of utter awe, a small smile spread over your face and you ran towards him to close the distance.

"Fang!" you shouted his name into the quiet around the two of you, slamming into his lean body in a bone-crushing hug, though you were careful of the raven-like wings attached to his back.

Returning the embrace, you could hear the smile in his voice, "Hey, (F/n)."

Pulling away a bit, you beamed up at him. "I haven't seen you in ages!"

"It's been a while."

Gently, his lips pressed against yours. You pursed your lips in thought. "I think last time you did that, too," your head tilted to the side, "Only, last time I wasn't in a relationship."

He wasn't fazed at all. "Well that's peculiar. I thought I was the only guy who could stand your mood swings."

With a laugh, you playfully punched his chest, "And I thought I was the only girl who could put up with yours." A jealous light flickered in your eyes, "But you've been spending a lot of time with Max."

Kissing your scrunched nose his smiled at you. "Aw come on! You know Max is like my sister."

"Sure, sister."

"Yes! Exactly," he laughed, bringing his forehead down to meet yours, voice quiet and eyes sweet, "You're not like my sister!"

You smirked, "No? Then what am I?"

His voice was low when he answered, "My lover."

Pushing him off of you, you tried to contain your giggles with your lips pressed firmly together, but you gave in after only a short second and exploded into a fit of laughter. Wiping a tear from your eye, you looked back up at him and opened your mouth to say something, but the sound of your phone ringing interrupted you.

It was your boyfriend. He was calling you.

You denied the call with a frown, but when you looked back up at where Fang once stood, the boy from the flock was gone.

With a sad smile, you looked up into the sky and remembered the sight of him taking off, great wings lifting him into the dark sky above. Then, the nostalgia passed and you turned around to walk back to the crappy little apartment where your boyfriend was probably passed out on the floor, beer bottles strewn about.

From behind you, a man rose into the air on powerful wings and disappeared once more into the night.

Life went on from that point out.

Here's the first (I think) of the stories requested the most from my 200 watchers.
Sorry if Fang's out of character, I've never read the books.
