You blinked at the boy in front of you, head tilting to the side as you attempted to figure out who he was, exactly. Pursing your lips, you narrowed your eyes and traced over his lean body. His blonde locks were wavy-ish and rested just at his chin and his eyes were stunning violet unlike anything you had ever seen before.

He had quietly called your name a moment ago, implying that you knew him, and now you were struggling to identify the handsome looking boy. His strong jaw and brilliant eyes reminded you of another blonde you knew, but the softness of his stare and gentle quality of his smile contrasted greatly to the other person in your mind.

Face twisting in confusion, you felt the name on the tip of your tongue. The blonde’s eyebrows turned up a bit in worry, and you heard his mellow voice murmur your name again. Holding a single finger up, you silenced him, but eventually you had to give up.

Feeling a bit defeated, you heard an airy laugh come from the so familiar boy. Eyes widening, you finally figured out who he was. “Mattie?” you guessed, an unbelieving grin stuck on your face, “Is that you?”

The pale blonde smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head and shuffling his feet. “Y-yeah,” he murmured.

“Oh my goodness!” you giggled, peering closely at his face, “Where are your glasses?”

He flushed at your close proximity, leaning away from your peering eyes a bit. “I- I got contacts.”

You smiled, standing on your heels and shifting away from the shy Canadian. “It’s nice,” you told him, voice soothing, “Your eyes are really nice.”

Realizing what you said, you both blushed and looked to the ground. “N-not that you didn’t look good with glasses,” you babbled, “I just-”

Turning to look back up at the boy, you felt your head thump against his and groaned. Grinning at him through the pain, you delicately pressed your fingers to where you had bumped into him. “Sorry, Matt,” you chuckled.

“N-no,” he muttered back with his own small smile, “I-it’s my own fault, I shouldn't have gotten contacts.”

You pouted, holding his face in your hands, “But I like it! I can see your eyes!”

Grinning innocently at you, he shrugged. “Yeah, but even with contacts, I’m still as blind as a bat.”

“Hey Matt?”

“Yeah, (F/n)?”

You grinned, looking over at the familiar boy, “Can I try on your glasses?”

“S-sure,” he stuttered, not really sure of himself like always as he handed you the round, wire frames.

A breathy little chuckle left your lungs as you slipped the glasses on, blinking at the transformation of the world around you.

“Woah,” you muttered, staring at your hands.

Matthew leaned closer to you, curious. “W-what is it?”

Finding him among the blur, you grinned at the little blonde and red blob that you assumed was Matthew’s hair and sweater. “Now I’m the blind bat!” you laughed with a grin, pulling off the glasses before you got a headache. “How do you even find those in the morning?”

The usually so timid boy shrugged with a simple answer of “echolocation”.

Echolocation, the answer to people who need their glasses but can't find them
